15 June 2022

By Allah’s Grace, the pediatric cardiology team of Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Qassim (PSCCQ) has successfully performed an urgent catheterization for a nine-day-old baby, who was suffering from severe aortic stenosis with a small left ventricle.

After the newborn baby was admitted to the ICU, his condition was evaluated and discussed, and then the medical team decided to perform a catheterization in which the aortic valve and aorta were widened. The catheterization was crowned with success, and the baby was discharged from the center after his health status stability. Then, the medical team has followed up his case and performed echocardiography, which showed that the aorta is in its normal state.

It is noted that the PSCCQ cardiac catheterization department for adults and children has performed 2,216 successful catheterizations over the past five months.
