By Allah’s Grace, the medical team of Maternity and Children Hospital-Makkah has successfully ended the suffering of a girl with myasthenia gravis; as she had been complaining of muscle weakness and movement disorders. After due examinations, she was diagnosed with the second type of myasthenia gravis, in which the patient can sit, but cannot walk, and needs therapeutic intervention to prevent deterioration of her condition and breathing muscles injury; which makes the patient need artificial respiration, especially when sleeping.
The medical team decided to develop a treatment program, which includes the use of «SPINRAZA», which is an intrathecal injection into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The patient responded to the treatment program; her neck and back muscles improved, and her balance improved while seated. The girl is still under observation, while receiving a physiotherapy program, and her condition is being followed up in the neurology, nutrition and respiratory clinics.
