Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Health launched the Scientific Forum for Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Obesity Surgery Centers and Units, for two days, May 2-3, 2023, at Voco Hotel in Riyadh, with participation of 24 lecturers presenting 24 lectures through 6 workshops dealing with a number of topics, most notably what is new in the guidelines, Virtual diabetes care, primary obesity surgery, lifestyle as a treatment, future of insulin delivery devices, best scientific evidence on preventing thrombosis after obesity surgery, in addition to how to overcome psychological barriers in obesity treatment, improving recovery after bariatric surgery, and nutritional complications after Obesity surgeries. This forum aims to raise awareness and understanding of the link between diabetes and obesity, facilitate knowledge exchange and cooperation between health care professionals, researchers, policy makers and others in the field of diabetes and obesity, present and discuss creative methods based on scientific research for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of diabetes and obesity, and discuss latest results of research and emerging trends in the field of diabetes and obesity, as well as the role of obesity surgery and the treatment of metabolic diseases in the treatment of diabetes, the mechanism of controlling diabetes, selecting patients and appropriate obesity operations, recent updates in obesity surgery and obesity medicine, psychological and nutritional aspects in the treatment of patients with obesity surgeries, It is worth noting that this forum includes a number of educational hours approved by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties
