Najran: 47 Referrals Received by King Khaled Hospital in 3 Months

​​According to Najran Health Affairs, during the first quarter of the current year, the departments and centers of King Khaled Hospital have received 47 patients referred from specialized hospitals and centers across the Kingdom. The hospital oncology center received 4 patients with peritoneal cancer, treating them with the PIPAC technique, which is one of the most precise surgical techniques and of high quality compared to traditional laparotomy operations, in the presence of an integrated medical team, including doctors in oncology surgery, anesthesia, intensive care, and an experienced nursing team.​

The Affairs added that 5 of the referrals underwent open-heart surgeries at Prince Sultan Cardiac Center, which its ICU capacity has recently been increased from 7 to 10 beds.   
During the past year, the hospital has served 142 referrals in different specialties, most notably treating 9 patients with severe COVID-19 symptoms using the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) technique. In addition, 10 patients were treated at the oncology center, including a female patient in her fifties coming from a Gulf state, as well as 17 patients at the neurosurgery department, 13 heart patients, including 2 children, and treatment of different cases in the departments of ear, nose, throat, digestive system, and orthopedics.

It is noteworthy that King Khalid Hospital is the main reference hospital in the region. Last year, the hospital received the Ada'a Health Award, the best improvement track, and the first place in “Wazen” programming in the first and fourth quarters of the same year.,
