According to Asir Health Affairs, over the last six months, the Regional Laboratory and Central Blood Bank have conducted more than 300,000 COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and 117,233 blood unit examinations. Also, 15,847 hormonal tests and 14,773 serological tests were conducted during the same period, as well as 1,376 molecular biology samples, 2,476 tests for TB, and 83 samples in the field of public health. It added that the number of testing at the laboratory’s different sections amounted to 151,788, including biochemistry, serology, public health, biological molecule, tuberculosis, and blood bank.
It is noteworthy that the Regional Laboratory and Central Blood Bank in Asir have recently obtained the accreditation certificate by the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI).
