The laboratory of King Fahd Specialist Hospital, an affiliate of the Eastern Health Cluster- Dammam, has obtained renewal of two accreditations, one form the College of American Pathologists (CAP), for the fifth time, and the other form the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), for the fourth time.
This accreditation comes after assessing the laboratory and blood bank’s compliance with the quality standards, safety programs and work procedures. It also comes to ensure the laboratory commitment to the highest international quality and safety to provide accurate diagnostic tests, safe blood and blood products for patients using the state-of-the-art medical devices and highly qualified cadres.
It is noteworthy that the laboratory, since the beginning of this year until the end of October, has conducted 3,625,481 lab tests, at a rate of 362,548 tests a month and received 14,737 blood donors, at a rate of 1,473 donors a month. In addition, the lab has organized 83 blood donation campaigns and conducted 331,349 tests for patients and donors, at a rate of 33,135 tests a month, during the same period.
