The Deputy Minister of Health for Public Health Dr. Hani Jokhdar said that health practitioners are aware of the risk of antibiotic overuse and improper use, stressing that the prescribed antibiotic should be appropriate for specific infections.
The World Antimicrobial Awareness Week aims at better understanding the problem of antimicrobial resistance, raising awareness, and encouraging the fight against the spread of antimicrobial resistance. The objectives of the world week include limiting incorrect consumption of antibiotics and keeping them effective for as long as possible, raising awareness about the risk of antimicrobial resistance at international, regional and local levels, encouraging best practices among the general public, policy makers and health workers as well as other relative health sectors.
