The MOH spokesman, Dr. Muhammed Al-Abdulaali, said that we are grateful for the accomplishments made during the past phase of COVID-19 pandemic and the continuous development in vaccination around the world, with more than 6.6 billion people already received the vaccines. He noted that over 45.5 million doses have been administered in the Kingdom and more than 21.1 million people have been fully vaccinated, the matter that consolidates the achievements we made during this pandemic.
He confirmed that the doses are not only available for those who took the first dose or for those who will get the second dose, but they are currently available for those who will receive the booster dose “third dose” as well. He added that this booster dose is important due to the possibility of a decrease in the level of effectiveness of immunization against the Coronavirus with the passage of time. “We in the Kingdom have started giving this dose to high-risky groups such as those with organ transplant, chronic kidney failure, chronic diseases, the elderly, or health practitioners, and that it will be given to those over 18 years of age and 6 months have passed since their first dose".
Noting that the pandemic is not over yet, he said there is a difference between the end of the pandemic and the phase of easing the precautionary measures, which we have eased but not cancelled. He urged those who are still reluctant to get the vaccine or were unable to get it over the past period to obtain the vaccine as quickly as possible.
During a press conference he held today (Sunday), Al-Abdulaali said that 47 COVID-19 confirmed cases have been reported in the Kingdom bringing the total number to 548,252 confirmed cases, including 2,192 active cases and 79 critical cases.
In addition, 36 new recoveries have been recorded, bringing the total number to 537,282 recoveries. Also, 2 new deaths have been reported; bringing the total deaths to 8,778, he added.
