The Ministry of Health (MOH) has celebrated the International Infection Prevention Week observed this year 2021 under the theme: “Make Your Intention Infection Prevention”. The international week aims at shedding light on the importance of infection prevention and its application in health institutions as an effective means of getting safe service, reducing infection transmission among patients, visitors, and health workers, and focusing on safe practices. These practices include the five moments for hand hygiene, hand washing and disinfecting method, the importance of cleaning health facilities’ environment, safe handling of medical waste, and proper handling of acupuncture, occupational injuries, isolation precautions, and others, with the aim of raising the awareness of health practitioners about methods of infection prevention and control in order to maintain the safety of patients and health workers.
The international week events included lectures, workshops, awareness corners, posters, competitions and others at different health facilities targeting all health workers, patients, and visitors.
