Over 169,000 Lab Tests Conducted in Riyadh Poison Control Center

According to Riyadh Health Affairs General Directorate, over the past year, Poison Control and Forensic Chemistry Center in the region has conducted more than 169,000 laboratory tests.

The above-mentioned lab tests were conducted on 57,526 samples, in addition to 25,154 tests for misused drugs, 80,706 for suspected cases, 60,752 for job applications, 2,368 for emergency poison samples, and 630 for detecting heavy metal toxins. 

Noteworthy, the center is internationally accredited in the field of toxicology, analytical laboratories and forensic chemistry by the US International Organization. It also holds accreditation in the field of toxicology, forensic medicine and detection of drugs and psychotropic substances from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), in addition to institutional accreditation from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) for a period of 4 years, after meeting the standards and requirements of health and vocational training. 

In addition, the Center is connected to all government and private agencies through ‘Awtar’ national platform to facilitate and speed up processing submitted transactions.
