The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Heath Volunteer Center («Sawaed» (Hands-on) Program), has provided 1,060 volunteers to serve Umrah performers and visitors of the Grand Mosque during the last Ramadan and in collaboration with the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques. The volunteers have provided therapeutic, preventive and support services during Umrah season in Ramadan. The services also aim to enhance the preventive health of the pilgrims and workers of the holy sites to confront the Coronavirus.
The «Sawaed» (Hands-on) Program has provided its voluntary services at the Holy Mosque’s courtyards, main gates in Makkah, Prophet’s Mosque and its facilities, Haramain high-speed railway, mosques, as well as airports, healthcare centers, and hospitals in Makkah, Madinah, and Taif. The volunteers contributed to many health and awareness services, such as working in hospital emergencies, supporting health staff, checking the vision of pilgrims, and raising the awareness of pilgrims and worshipers about compliance with the precautionary measures. They also focused on helping the older persons, distributing breakfast meals to pilgrims, helping patients at clinics, visual triage at the railway station and clinics, as well as raising the awareness of pilgrims and worshipers about adhering to the precautionary measures and maintaining distances between them.
