Bisha: First Phase of Automated Lab Project Launched at King Abdullah Hospital

According to Bisha Health Affairs, the Laboratory and Blood Bank Department of King Abdullah Hospital has launched the first phase of an automated lab project. The new automated device conducts 3,340 lab tests per hour, with less human interference to mitigate the occurrence of errors. It is a multi-device with two lines, each one performs 1,670 tests an hour, or 3,340 tests for the two lines. It also features STA R Max3: Stago analyzer, which can test 215 samples per hour (a refrigerator capacity of 13,500 samples).​

It added that the device can also perform various tests such as blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides, liver and kidney functions, hormone checks, hepatitis C infections, and other viral diseases such as: AIDS, and tumor markers.

Noteworthy, the device can automatically reanalyze samples in accordance with programmed standards that monitor the quality of the analyses. Also, the device performs online updating of its program and calibration, as well as timely detection of any malfunction.
