MOH: CRS Screening Service Launched at Primary Healthcare Centers
08 March 2021

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has launched the Colorectal Cancer (CRS) Screening Service at primary healthcare centers across the Kingdom. Through an awareness-raising infographic, posted on its Twitter page and its awareness platform: «Live Well», MOH has highlighted that such screening is specified only for those people aged 45-75 years, by booking an appointment through «Sehaty» App.

It is noted that CRC is a cancer that affects the large intestine (colon), which is the lower part of the human digestive tract, and the rectum, which is the final part of the digestive tract. Overall, 90% of colorectal cancer cases occur in people aged 45 and older. The early symptoms of the disease feature changes in bowel habits, (including diarrhea or constipation, or a change in the consistency of stool for more than two weeks), rectal bleeding or blood in stool, persistent abdominal discomfort (e.g. cramps, gas or pain), frequently having the urge to go to the bathroom, unexplained weight loss, severe and unexplained anemia with age, in addition to vomiting.
