Al-Rabiah Launches National Medical Records Platform

​His Excellency the Minister of Health and President of the Saudi Health Council (SHC), Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah has inaugurated today (Monday), the National Medical Records Platform. The Platform aims to identify patterns of disease infections in the Kingdom, methods of treatment and their comparative outcomes among healthcare providers, to promote healthcare using recorded data to improve efficiency and quality of the provided healthcare services in line with aspirations of patients and using the recorded data in healthcare planning in the Kingdom.


For his part, Dr. Nahar Al-Azemi, Secretary-General of the SHC, said that the platform has been dedicated to the most prevalent and priority diseases influencing the health system, which will contribute to proposing health plans and strategies and developing preventive and therapeutic programs to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare, as well as evaluating the current health status and providing more care to upgrade the quality of public health.

The national medical records strategy was developed by the council, represented by the National Health Information Center, in collaboration with an advisory agency in the field of medical records, with the aim of analyzing the current situation of the health management and records in the Kingdom and providing the best solutions in accordance with the scientific foundations and distinguished experiments in the developed countries.

Noteworthy, the national medical record is an important source for collecting data about diseases from various public and private health sectors; thus contributing to providing an integrated and accurate national health database concerned with monitoring and listing the most common diseases in the kingdom. It also contributes to outlining the extent of health problems in the community, identifying potential risk factors, proposing remedial, preventive, and development plans and measures, making accurate statistical reports on disease patterns and their distribution in the Kingdom as well as supporting and developing scientific and epidemiological studies.
