MOH: Over A Million People Registered to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine
07 January 2021

The spokesman of MOH, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdulaali, said that over one million people were registered to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, with none of the vaccinated individuals showing signs of health problems. The vaccine is available through ‘Sehhaty’ application.  More than 137,000 people have received the vaccine, and the number is growing. This is the most important stage in terms of dealing with this pandemic.

Moreover, the number of new COVID-19 cases has decreased by 98%. The mutated strain of the virus is present in many countries; however, a limited number of cases have been recorded. These cases were isolated. Besides, no link has been found between this mutation and the severity of the disease. Dr. Al-Abdulaali stated that the vaccine is effective even with these mutations.

Moreover, 108 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded, bringing the number of positive cases in the Kingdom to 363,485, of which 2,170 are active cases receiving medical care. The majority of these cases are in a good health condition, while 328 are in critical condition. 138 new recovered cases have also been recorded, bringing the number of recovered patients to 355,037. The number of mortalities reached 6,278, in addition to 6 new mortalities.

This came during the press conference held today, Thursday, with the participation of the CEO of ‘Tawakkalna’ Platform at the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA), Engineer Abdullah Al-Issa.

Health services continue to be provided in all centers and facilities of MOH. Moreover, ‘Taakad’ centers have conducted 6054363 swabs, and ‘Tetamman’ clinics have provided their services to 1777001 clients. Health and medical consultations were provided to 25491313 people through 937 Service Center, while the total number of lab examinations in the Kingdom reached 11250266.

For his part, Engineer Al-Issa praised the efforts of the wise leadership and the proactive and rapid measures it has taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Its efforts reflect its concern for the safety of citizens and residents and preserving their health as a top priority.

Noteworthy, ‘Tawakkalna’ application has 9.5 million registered users. The application provides over 30 services and supports the 7 languages most used in the Kingdom.

Further, the (Immunity Passport) allows vaccinated individuals to review their data as well as the dates when they took the vaccines. The passport confirms that a person has received all doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and has become immune to the virus. However, this does not mean that vaccinated individuals should stop complying with preventive measures.

The (Immunity Passport) service is available on ‘Tawakkalna’ application. Government agencies can use the application to offer various services to citizens and residents to enable them to go back to their normal life. Its main role now is reviewing the immunity data of individuals who have received the vaccine.
