The Assistant Minister of Health and MOH spokesman, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdulaali, affirmed that the Kingdom has become among countries with a significant decline in COVID-19 infections. He said that the Kingdom has signed important agreements with coronavirus vaccine producers and will be one of the first countries to get the vaccine. We will soon announce the mechanism of registration for taking the vaccine after ensuring its safety, effectiveness as well as approval of the competent authorities, he added.
During a press conference he held today (Sunday), Al-Abdulaali revealed that 187 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the Kingdom, bringing the total cases to 358,713 confirmed cases, including 3,869 active cases, receiving the necessary medical care. Of these, there are 600 critical cases, while the health condition of the rest is stable. In addition, 317 new recoveries have been recorded, bringing the total recoveries to 348,879 cases, all praise is due to Allah. Also, 11 new deaths have been reported; bringing the total deaths to 5,965, May Allah bestow His mercy upon them. Moreover, 32,790 new Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests for COVID-19 have been conducted in the Kingdom's laboratories, bringing the total to 10,106,659 tests.
“We are close to reaching the final phases of fighting the pandemic, hoping to be quick, safe and healthy for everyone. All Kingdom’s regions are witnessing a drop in the number of new cases, with the exception of Al-Jouf region, which has reported an increase during the past two weeks”, he said.
The health services are still provided through all MOH’s facilities, with 5,434,142 Molecular Diagnostic Tests «Swab Tests» at Make Sure «Taakkad» Centers, 1,645,452 patients were served at Rest Assured «Tetamman» Clinics, in addition to offering medical consultations via 937-Service Center to 22,113,480 beneficiaries, he added.
