In parallel with the World Breastfeeding Week, Madinah Health Affairs has launched “Support Breastfeeding to Live Healthy” initiative , with the aim of raising community awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and its impact on the health and stability of individual, family and community. The initiative included walking on Al-Hijrah walkway, as well as organizing several awareness activities on the importance of mother health and infant feeding, benefits of breastfeeding and walking for the mother and children rights to breastfeeding.
The theme of this year’s World Breastfeeding Week is “Support breastfeeding for a healthier planet”, said the Affairs, pointing out that feeding breastmilk substitutes affects the environment and climate due to its production, packaging, distribution and preparation methods.
