Al-Abdulaali: Umrah Performers Should Get Necessary Vaccinations

​​​​​The Assistant Minister of Health and MOH spokesman, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdulaali, stated that 390 new confirmed cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in the Kingdom, bringing the total cases to 336,387. These include 10,027 active cases, still receiving medical care. Their health status is mostly stable, with the exception of 955 critical cases.


“By Allah’s grace, the epidemiological surveillance showed that COVID-19 critical cases remain below 1,000. Over the last week, critical cases have further declined at a level of approximately 7.6% from the last record,” said Al-Abdulaali.

MOH spokesman made this statement in COVID-19 briefing held on Sunday, indicating that 511 COVID-19 recoveries were reported, bringing the total number of recoveries to 321,485 to date. Besides, 25 deaths were reported, bringing the total deaths to 4,875. Also, 39,340 new COVID-19 lab tests for COVID-19 have been conducted throughout the Kingdom, bringing the total tests to 6,678,019 tests.

Al-Abdulaali highlighted that we are increasing the benefits of returning to life activities, but we return with caution; the matter which has proven its efficiency as a step in the right direction. He explained that today we begin the first stages of Umrah resumption, and Umrah performers should get necessary vaccinations, especially during this season, as well as taking precautionary measures, most prominently are vaccination against seasonal influenza, not sharing others’ personal tools, wearing face masks, sterilizing hands, and keeping a safe distance. A number of health leaders will be honored to provide a set of important services to ensure the health of all visitors and performers of Umrah rituals.

MOH spokesman concluded by saying that the two most important things to verify recovery from COVID-19 are the passage of 10 days from the onset of symptoms and the last 3 consecutive days without showing any symptoms.
