The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced the approval of Treatment Abroad Scheme Policy for patients, whose treatment requires traveling abroad, and their companions.
MOH highlighted that patients, who apply for traveling abroad for treatment at their own expense, must meet the following conditions: The case admission must be approved by a hospital or a specialized center in a medically advanced country, the case must be one of those requiring treatment abroad and for which there is no treatment available inside the country, based on a recent medical report certified by the Ministry of Health, and that the case must be one of the pathological conditions that the Supreme Medical Council recommends for treatment abroad.
“As for those patients, who apply for traveling abroad for treatment at the expense of the state, must be approved by a royal decree or a decision of the Supreme Medical Authority for treatment abroad, given that those, who have been approved to travel abroad in accordance with the aforementioned conditions, are allowed to be accompanied by two persons as maximum for each patient, or whatever the Supreme Medical Authority deems fit,” MOH stated.
MOH added that by virtue of such approval, MOH will study requests, then to refer what has been accepted electronically to the General Directorate of Passports at the Ministry of Interior; to complete the issuance of necessary documents, noting that applications to be submitted online, via «Absher» platform.
