According to Najran Health Affairs, the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) has been activated at radiology department of King Khalid Hospital, and linked to same system in each of Sharurah General Hospital, Maternity and Children Hospital, and Khabash Hospital, in addition to seven healthcare centers.
This e-link aims to prepare an integrated medical system, linking King Khalid Hospital with a number of health facilities; to follow up and archive radiological images, exchange medical consultations between physicians, and prepare medical reports; to serve patients efficiently and quickly and meet their satisfaction. PACS transfers and archives x-rays, CT, ultrasound, MRI, and nuclear medicine images at high quality.
The Affairs highlighted that it will implement the Electronic Link Project in the rest of hospitals and healthcare centers across the region; in an endeavor to save time and effort by diagnosing cases and archiving them electronically, facilitating access to them, and contributing to prompt access to a diagnosis, and reducing the waiting time of radiological examination results, in addition to archiving these results as reference to follow up patient's medical history.
