King Saud Medical City Launches Digital Operating Rooms

​King Saud Medical City (KSMC) has launched digital operating rooms connected to the digital work system as well as other departments such as radiology, laboratory and endoscopy, with the aim of improving the quality of health care and conducting complex surgical procedures. The hospital has 9 digital rooms, most importantly the hybrid operating rooms that mix traditional operating room and interventional radiology room, as well as robotic surgery rooms. ​

According to KSMC, the rooms are equipped with high definition touch screens to display all patient’s data and surgery processes and to ensure surgeries are conducted with high precision. Also, through the digital operation system the progress of surgeries can be transmitted instantly to international conferences and forums.  They greatly contribute in taking quick and reliable surgical decisions, which reflects positively on patient and help to give him the appropriate medicine at the ideal time. The rooms are also equipped with all surgical supplies and tools.

The rooms apply the highest international quality standards and specifications. They include painting walls and floors with antibacterial and antimicrobial, using special air-conditioning systems equipped with high-precision air filters, disposal of waste anesthetic gases and another system for preventing outside air form entering the rooms, as well as special lighting system, it added.

It is noteworthy that KSMS has conducted around 19,000 surgeries during the past year.
