MOH Organizes Blood Donation Campaign in Conjunction with World Blood Donor Day

The Ministry of Health (MOH) launches today (Sunday) a blood donation campaign, coinciding with the World Blood Donor Day, which falls on June 14th, 2020. It indicated that blood donation is a noble humanitarian act, because it contributes in saving the lives of thousands patients who are in dire need of blood transfusion. Those interested can schedule an appointment to donate through (Mawid) App and choose the nearest facility and at times that are convenient for hem, it said, confirming that all blood donation centers are safe and applying all precautionary and preventive measures. 

 

It is noteworthy that, since COVID-19 pandemic began, MOH has successfully maintained an abundant blood supply in blood banks, during the quarantine period from March 22nd, 2020 to May 31st, 2020, with more than 50,000 donors across the Kingdom. The campaigns, organized by the health affairs in all Kingdom regions, have contributed in enhancing the efficiency of the blood stocks. 

The campaign comes in continuation of MOH’s efforts to spread the culture of blood donation among citizens and residents alike and to entrench such noble humanitarian goal. The campaign aims to achieve as many donors as possible, as a new blood bank friends and permanent donors, for the sake of patients and those in need of a drop of blood.
