‘How to Protect Yourself from COVID-19?’ – A New Guide from MOH
10 June 2020

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has issued a guide on how to stay safe from COVID-19 when leaving home, whether to go to work, go shopping, pray at the mosque, or to visit the elderly.

The guide was published by MOH on its ‘Live Well’ awareness platform and Twitter account. It covered general tips, including avoiding gatherings, and calling the 937 Call Center in the case of contacting an infected individual, or showing symptoms such as coughing, fever, and shortness of breath.

The guide highlighted the importance of wearing a cloth face mask, washing hands with soap and water for 40 seconds or using a hand sanitizer, avoiding handshakes or hugs, and avoiding touching the eyes, nose, and mouth before washing hands. The MOH’s guide also recommended adhering to the coughing and sneezing etiquette, by covering the mouth and nose with a tissue, and instantly disposing of it, or coughing and sneezing inside the elbow. It advised people to leave a safe distance of at least two meters when dealing with others, and avoid gatherings and sharing personal tools with others.

Additionally, the guide reviewed the steps to follow when leaving the house or going to the mosque. Furthermore, it involved health tips to adhere to when going to work, shopping or traveling.  Citizens using taxi cabs or buses are advised to adhere to several precautionary measures. The guide also explains the safest way to receive orders delivered to home, and the steps that individuals of a high-risk group should follow in case of contracting the disease. It also covered tips to keep children safe during this pandemic.
