Development Projects in Radiology Sections of Riyadh’s Hospitals
28 April 2020

Riyadh Health Affairs General Directorate continues to implement several qualitative initiatives and development projects in its hospitals and health centers. The projects aim to improve the Directorate’s services and performance levels.

Within this context, Riyadh Health Affairs undertook a set of operational and development projects to improve the quality of radiological services. Such improvement would take place through creating and monitoring performance measurement indicators in radiology sections during the first quarter of 2020. These indicators include optimal use, reducing patient waiting time during MRI and CT scans, venous thrombosis cases, and critical cases during radiological scans. Further improvements are targeted in the early breast cancer detection program by an easy and attractive method for the targeted groups.

Direct communication has taken place through a teleradiology project in Al-Dawadmi Hospital and Al-Quwai’iya Hospital. Also, coordination is underway with MOH to monitor the work progress in some hospitals, including Afif, Al-Mujamaah, Al-Aflaj, and Al-Zulfi. Riyadh Health Affairs also stated that the e-archiving system is being developed in Al-Artawiyah and Al-Muzahimiyah hospitals.

Furthermore, both King Khalid Hospitals in Al-Kharj and Al-Dawadmi were equipped with CT-scan devices. Moreover, mammogram equipment was secured and operated in Afif, Shaqra, and Hotat Bani Tamim hospitals. General radiology equipment was also secured and operated in Ruwaida Al-Ardh and Rammah hospitals. Also, Eradah Complex in Riyadh has also been provided with operation of mobile radiology equipment.

MOH has agreed to provide and prepare CT-scan services at Al-Rayn Hospital. These steps will contribute to significantly improving the services provided. They will also support the readiness of radiology sections in the hospitals of Riyadh Health Affairs General Directorate.
