22 April 2020

The General Directorate of Health Affairs in Riyadh Region (hereafter, ‘Riyadh Health’), as represented by the Preventive Medicine Department and Shaqraa field teams, has implemented a field surveillance campaign on the residential complexes of workers in Shaqraa Governorate. The campaign was organized under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri, Director-General of Riyadh Health Affairs, in collaboration with a committee formed by the Governor of Shaqraa. This field surveillance campaign comes as part of the measures to control the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and prevent its spread in the cities and villages of the governorate.

Riyadh Health stated that the campaign aimed to spread the necessary health culture among workers about COVID-19 and ways to prevent it, in a manner that guarantees their safety. Participants in the lectures of the campaign gave guidelines and instructions recommended by MOH to avoid the disease. This included emphasizing the importance of personal hygiene, washing hands, and avoiding rumors.

The activities of the campaign (which has been taking place for five weeks) are still taking place. They include a survey conducted on a large number of workers to ensure that they are healthy. The campaign targeted workers’ housing and densely populated neighborhoods. It visited 43 locations, educated nearly 400 workers, and carried out tests on them. These activities come within the framework of the precautionary measures to combat COVID-19 and prevent its spread.
