The Assistant Deputy Minister for Preventive Health, Dr. Abdullah Asiri has commended the precautionary measures taken by the government of the Custodian Two Holy Mosques to reduce infection with COVID-19 and urged everyone to stay home to curb the spread of the virus.
Speaking through MOH’s Twitter page, he urged everyone to abide by the precautionary measures as an effective way to prevent the spread of the virus, including home isolation for those who have been in contact with infected cases, as well as avoiding going to public places, particularly shopping centers.
“The world has moved from reducing infections to mitigating the impact of COVID-19. However, it is still possible to reduce infections through social distancing, and since the outbreak of the disease, the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has implemented strict measures to fight the pandemic”, he said.
With less than a month to go before Ramadan begins, he called on all to change their behaviors during the holy month by avoiding gatherings and shopping. This year’s Ramadan is different from previous ones and we have to adjust our behaviors to suit the current situations, to stay at home, avoid close contact and do our businesses remotely, he added.
He said that the novel Coronavirus is a respiratory virus, which is transmitted through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and through contacting an infected person and touching a contaminated surface.
