By Allah's Grace, the Head, Neck and Skull Base Health Center of King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC) - Makkah, has successfully performed 40 electronic cochlear implants on both sides, raising hopes for people with hearing impairment.
According to Makkah Health Affairs, the procedure is done in collaboration with the Maternity and Children Hospital in Makkah, for selected children with congenital hearing impairment.
"The inner year implant is a high-tech device designed to bypass the damaged parts of the inner ear. The device sends electrical stimulating signals to the auditory nerve, which carries them to the brain to be translated into a sound. The service is provided by an integrated team from KAMC's Department of Audiology and Hearing Aids. The team has successfully performed 40 electronic cochlear implants and provided the necessary postoperative rehabilitation', adds the Affairs.
