Makkah: Smoking Awareness Campaign Launched
14 November 2019

Makkah Health Affairs, represented by the Tobacco Control Program, has launched an educational exhibition at Al-Laith bin Saad Intermediate School, new Al-Umrah neighborhood to enlighten visitors on how to register with the clinic, means of treatment and regulations of the National Tobacco Control Committee (NTCC), including monetary fines. A number of students, teachers and guests have visited the clinic and got acquainted with its activities. The exhibition and clinic served 145 students and teachers and registered 85 persons wishing to quit the bad habit, as well as training a voluntary team of students and exhibition's counselors on following-up work progress at the permanent exhibition.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is keen to raise awareness of smoking adverse health effects on individual and community. These programs aim to shed light on MOH's therapeutic and awareness services and to encourage smoking cessation. Such awareness-raising activities come in continuation of MOH's efforts to maintain the health and safety of all community members, to promote health awareness and to urge individuals to adopt healthy behaviors.
