MOH Launches Awareness Campaign on Medical Informed Consent
14 November 2019

As a part of its ongoing awareness campaign dubbed “It’s Your Right”, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has launched a reminder campaign on medical informed consent. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of reading and understanding the medical consent before giving approval, so as to be aware of the details of the medical procedure and possible complications.

Through an awareness infographic published on its Twitter's page, MOH explained that the medical consent would be verbally in routine procedures, which include clinical examinations, lab and x-rays tests, and would be written in case of surgeries, hospitalization, anesthesia and some tests that require physical intervention, radiation therapy and chemotherapy for cancer treatment, reusing surgically-removed parts, as well as scientific research and training. It pointed out that the informed consent means: the permission a patient or his representative gives to perform a medical procedure at a health facility, verbally or in writing.
