MOH Celebrates World Patient Safety Day
16 September 2019

Coinciding with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) celebration of the World Patient Safety Day under the theme: «Speak up for Patient Safety», the Ministry of Health (MOH) will celebrate it tomorrow. The World Patient Safety Day is observed on September 17th every year.  The event targets patients and health practitioners in all departments and specialties across the Kingdom’s hospitals; with a view to improving patient safety standards. This year's event features a number of topics in the fields of pharmacy, quality, infection control, laboratories, nursing, radiology, dentistry, surgery, as well as raising the public awareness of the importance of reporting patient side effects. The event also includes workshops, lectures, in addition to publishing photographs and infographics, via MOH’s Twitter page, under the theme: the World Patient Safety Day.

It is worth mentioning that patient safety is one of MOH’s most important priorities for being a cornerstone of the healthcare services system. The Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC) is one of MOH’s initiatives to improve the healthcare and one of the most important initiatives of the National Transformation Program (NTP) implemented in the health sector. SPSC represents a national reference for all patient safety-related issues to prevent medical errors, develop the National Patient Safety Strategy, as well as ensuring its harmony with the NTP initiatives in the health sector.
