MOH: Training Courses to Hone Pharmacists' Skills

​The Ministry of Health (MOH) continues its efforts to promote the pharmacy profession and activate pharmacist vital role for boosting performance levels and controlling the quality of services provided to patients. In this vein, MOH, represented by the Pharmaceutical Care General Department, and in collaboration with Training and Scholarship General Department, has launched a number of training courses for MOH's pharmacists form all regions of the Kingdom. The courses are accredited with Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS). The courses' topics include the latest developments in the treatment of diabetes and e-pharmacy, qualification of oncology centers' pharmacists, pharmaceutical total quality, step-by-step guide to pharmaceutical research, qualification of pharmaceutical safety supervisors, pharmaceutical basic safety requirement and developing the skills of pharmaceutical care directors in regions and hospitals. 


Through these intensive courses, MOH seeks to promote pharmacists' efficiency through continuous training and development with the aim of promoting the pharmacy profession in recognition of the pharmacists' role as an integral part of the treating team, and in an endeavor to improve the services provide to beneficiaries. 

It is noteworthy that the Pharmaceutical Care General Department provides medical treatment to all patients in a highly professional manner in order to achieve the desired results of using drug whether for treatment or prevention. It seeks to achieve its overall goal of reaching the best levels of health services for citizens by reducing the number of patients, disabilities and deaths resulting from drug problems. The department aims to minimize the occurrence of these problems, to reduce them through the optimal use of drugs, at the lowest cost, which is the core responsibility of pharmacist towards patients.
