Al-Qunfudah: 4,650 Patients Served by Hearing and Balance Clinic

​According to Al-Qunfudah Health Affairs, since the middle of 2017 until now, the Hearing and Balance Clinic of Al-Qunfudah General Hospital has provided its health services to 4,650 patients. The clinic serves patients with hearing impairment, tinnitus, ear pain, acute and chronic ear infections, motor dizziness and imbalance, inability to understand and interpret speech, as well as children with delayed language development, adds the Affairs.​

It indicated that medical survey are done for all newborns using special devices at specialized neonatal clinic for early detection of hearing impairment to be followed by early intervention so that the child ability to speak and language acquisition is not affected, as it is known that hearing impairment affects language development.

It is noteworthy that the hearing and balance hospital is enhanced with cutting-edge equipment such as: otoscope, ear pressure device, evaluation of middle ear function, pure tone audiometry testing, measuring of ability to understand and interpret speech, auditory brain stem response (ABR) testing, and otoacoustic emission (OAE) testing.
