Since launching the Cardiac Catheterization Unit of King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital (KASH)-Taif in September until the end of the past year (2018), its medical team performed 192 cardiac catheterizations, including 103 diagnostic catheterizations, 89 therapeutic catheterizations, 9 acute heart attack surgeries referred from emergency department, in addition to 122 cardiac stent placement procedures.
It is worth mentioning that this unit reduced hundreds of cases that were being referred to Makkah hospitals, as 539 cases were referred from KASH to hospitals inside and outside the governorate, and more than 802 cases were referred from Taif Health Affairs over the past year (1439H.).
