Health Minister's Speech on Allegiance-Pledge Anniversary
10 December 2018

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace be upon the Seal of Prophets and Messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, and on his family and companions.

On this blessed day, we witness one of the eternal national days and a glorious memory, the anniversary of the ascension of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman- may Allah protect him- to the throne. It is a national occasion during which we celebrate this great leader, the King of determination and decisiveness, as this auspicious era witnessed many developmental achievements and reforms, which realized a qualitative shift in the various fields of development in our country. It is a source of pride for all sons of this generous country. As well, the whole world witnessed and praised the continuous development in the country under the wise leadership which always looking forward to the future and aiming at the best for its citizens and homeland.

It is well known that the unlimited support to the health sector provided by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown prince, by Allah's Grace, has helped to realize many achievements and to improve health services for the citizens. The Ministry of Health (MOH) has been able to increase the bed capacity in hospitals to 43,630 beds, to inaugurate 10 mobile clinics and to increase the cardiac centers to 22 centers. Thanks Allah, the Kingdom is one of the top 24 countries in specialized healthcare, and a pioneer in the Arab world.

MOH also focused on facilitating the provision of e-services to citizens through several applications. We have handled 7 million appointments through "Mawid" service, the app used by four and half million users. We also seek to reduce congestion in emergencies and to raise efficiency in operating rooms. MOH continues with implementing the «Adaa’» Program which features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven therapeutic aspects in hospitals, including emergency, clinics, surgeries, hospitalization, ICU, radiology and laboratories.  The program aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. By Allah's Grace, the 937-Service Center receives 20,000 calls daily, with a 98% case-closure rate, and an 85% satisfaction rate. We also have "Seha" App through which the citizen can get visual medical consultation. In line with the Saudi Vision 2030, we aim to provide medical insurance to all citizens within 4-5 years, Allah willing.

These steps come in line with MOH's efforts to achieve one of its objectives in the National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020, in terms of improving the health care provided before hospitalization and at emergency and ICU departments of main hospitals. Also, this goal is related to one of the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030, in terms of improving the quality of both preventive and therapeutic healthcare services.

Finally, on this precious occasion, our loyalty to the wise leadership is renewed. May Allah bless the life of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and his Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman and help them to advance our country up to the level of the developed countries. We also pray for Allah to preserve our country and its leaders and to perpetuate the safety and stability of our dear Kingdom, and to confer health and well-being on all.
