20 November 2018

According to Jeddah Health Affairs, the first dose of Spinraza medication was administered to a patient with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) at the Pediatrics Department of East Jeddah Hospital, may Allah be praised. It will be followed by repeated doses as clinical trials have demonstrated that the medication significantly slows the disease's progression and improves mobility in some patients.

It noteworthy that the Spinraza is a medication for the treatment of SMA, a genetic disorder that afflicts children with weakness of muscles and breathing difficulties. Overtime, the symptoms deteriorate and can be fatal. Recently, the new medication was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of all forms of SMA. It is higly effective and secured.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has provided the medication for treatment of the patient at East Jeddah Hospital.
