Makkah: Health and Education Departments Launch School Screening Program

​​​According to Makkah Health Affairs, the School Screening Program targets 50% of first grade students of the intermediate and secondary stages during the first semester, totaling 55,221 students, and 50% of first and fourth grade students of the primary stage during the second semester.  It added that the program aims at creating a statistical database on the health of students in Makkah schools and to conduct an early detection of targeted health problems, which negatively affect the academic attainment of the targeted students. The program also aims at ensuring that the detected cases are referred to the relevant authorities to get the appropriate healthcare and to raise the awareness of the students and their parents as per the detected cases. ​

It indicated that 10 health teams were formed to perform the examination at the schools, and 99,591 students have already been examined, and the work is still underway to achieve the aspired target.
