In parallel with the Kingdom National Day 88, the Ministry of Health (MOH) will launch a blood donation campaign in a community partnership with Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group. The campaign, to be launched next Monday at the Ministry's headquarters under the theme "We have one blood", will feature a number activities to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of blood donation, and MOH's staff can donate blood at an accompanying exhibition. As well, special booths will be organized at some malls in Riyadh to encourage visitors and shoppers to donate blood during five consecutive days. In addition, the Group's laboratories will be ready to receive outpatients and visitors wishing to participate in the campaign.
The campaign reflects the humanitarian and social responsibility of MOH and the Group and their endeavors to spread the culture of charitable giving and blood donation among citizens and residents alike as well as highlighting its health effects in community and noble humanitarian goal.
Also, the campaign seeks to achieve as many donated blood units as possible to secure the reserve needs in addition to MOH's blood banks stock in order to meet the additional demand for blood in the event of an increase in emergency and critical cases across the Kingdom. This in particular to the current period where traffic accident rates are increasing due to peak hours after the holiday season ends, business resumes, students return to school, as well as supporting our brave soldiers in the southern border.
As usual in all blood donation campaigns launched by MOH, all internationally accredited standards will be adopted at all stages of donation in order to achieve the highest level of safety, in addition to conducting pre-donation screening on all donors. Blood banks will check the blood units using state-of-the-art laboratory devices to ensure their safety before giving them to patients, as stated in the Quran "And whoever saves a life, it would be as though he has saved the lives of all mankind" Al-Ma'idah 32.
