Riyadh: Waiting Time in Several Hospitals Reduced by MOH's Performance Program
12 November 2017
The Ministry of Health (MOH) continues MOH's Performance Program, which aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program is in line with the National Transformation Program 2020 towards achieving the Saudi Vision 2030. The program covers 70 hospitals and features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, which have positively reduced the waiting times.

In that context, Al-Eman General Hospital has successfully reduced ICU hospitalization time from 12.46 hours to 3.25 hours only, while offering top quality and efficient services to patients. Also, Al-Yamama Hospital has initiated a care team in outpatient clinics to guide patients and answer their inquiries to avoid their late appearance in the clinics and to enhance their satisfaction. Hence, the Program has boosted patients' punctuality (from 7.10% to 39.80% in two months).

On the other hand, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital - Riyadh has implemented the (Operating Room Optimization Project). Accordingly, the hospital has successfully enhanced the operating rooms’ usability from 15.80% early 2017 to 69% in August; thus, reducing patients' waiting lists.

In the same vein, Imam Abdulrahman al-Faisal Hospital has implemented the (Step Down Dispensary ICU Project), to reduce patients' ICU hospitalization to 6-10 days; thus, ensuring higher quality and better bed management. Likewise, Al-Amal Complex for Mental Health - Riyadh has developed an interactive dashboard to monitor performance indicators and well as patients' progress.
