A medical team at the General Surgery Department of King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital- Taif, has successfully conducted a quality surgery for a woman in her 50s with cardiac tamponade; a medical emergency in which fluids in the pericardium (the sac around the heart) build up and result in compression of the heart, cardiac arrest and may cause death. Through thoracoscopy procedure, the team made an incision in the pericardium to drain fluids without the need to make a thoracotomy. Thank Allah, the operation was successful, the patient's condition stabilized and he was discharged from the hospital in good health.
