Life of a Patient with Rare Ovarian Torsion Saved at Umluj General Hospital

According to Tabuk Health Affairs, a surgical team at Umluj General Hospital has successfully saved the life of a patient with ovarian torsion. The patient was brought to emergency department suffering from a week-long severe abdominal pain. After due medical and radiological checkups, she was diagnosed with a rare ovarian torsion. During surgical operation, the team found a severe torsion in the left ovary causing interruption of blood flow and gangrene. The ovary was excised and bleeding controlled. After the surgery, the patient received the necessary medical care and currently her condition is stable, thank Allah.
 
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which covers 70 main hospitals and aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, including emergency, clinics, surgeries, hospitalization, ICU, radiology and labs. The program also aims to develop the skills of health professionals to use the indicators and to identify performance improvement potentials, in compliance with patient safety and quality standards.
