23 October 2017
Over the past year (1438H.), the Premarital Screening Center of King Abdullah Hospital-Bisha performed 3,167 medical tests for citizens intending to marry, in addition to 483 medical consultations. The premarital screening clinic serves a key purpose to detect genetic and infectious diseases, through providing medical consultations by specialist physicians.

It is noted that the Ministry of Health (MOH) has adopted the Premarital Screening Program, setting its goals, including preventing the spread of some genetic and infectious diseases, avoiding social and psychological problems in families whose children suffer, as well as raising awareness on the comprehensive healthy marriage concept.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program is in line with the strategic objectives of the National Transformation Plan 2020 towards achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The program covers 70 hospitals and features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, which have positively reduced the waiting times.
