Al-Amal Complex - Tabuk: Electroconvulsive Therapy Clinics Operates
19 October 2017
Tabuk Health Affairs has launched the Drug Addiction Treatment Center (ATC) at Al-Amal Complex for Mental Health to treat addicts to brain depressants. This center is part of the facility-based medical and preventive services offered by Tabuk Health Affairs to citizens, saving them the burden of traveling to outside specialized centers for treatment. ATC provides mental, social and after-care programs to cases which have met the terms and requirements of medical treatment, in compliance with the highest adopted standards.

In the same vein, Tabuk Health Affairs has inaugurated the Electroconvulsive Therapy Clinic at Al-Amal Complex for Mental Health to treat mental patients suffering from depression, mania, schizophrenia, puerperal psychosis, suicidal ideation and catalepsy. The center is supervised by mental health specialists and consultants, according to certain pre- and post-sessions medical processes. Electroconvulsive Therapy is one of the non-pharmacological treatments of mental disorders.

Al-Amal Complex for Mental Health is one of the medical edifices inaugurated last year at King Abdullah Medical Complex - Tabuk. The Complex features a 200-bed capacity, and 8 inpatient villas with 25-30 bed capacity each. It also incorporates an emergency building (for men and women respectively), with an ICU for acute mental cases, two work and recreation treatment buildings, a rehabilitation facility for improved cases. The Complex also includes a gymnasium and a swimming pool. It is enhanced with top qualified medical, technical and administrative staff.

It is noted that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program is in line with the National Transformation Plan 2020 towards achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The program covers 70 hospitals and features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, which have positively reduced the waiting times.
