19 October 2017
The Urology Department of Al-Ansar Hospital has witnessed an overall development. The department is enhanced with a laser  lithotripter, a laser device for prostatic hypertrophy removal, an integrated laparoscopic unit, as well as a Urination Dynamics Unit. The hospital leads the region's facilities, performing the first urological laparoscopic surgeries in Madinah. Also, the hospital performs nephrectomy, varicocele embolization, cryptorchidism laparoscopic detection and fixation. The center also treats female urinary incontinence using a tape, the latest technology in the field. The center features a Urination Dynamics Unit for all urinary tests with the state-of-the-art appliances.

This is the only center in Madinah performing all urinary disorders surgeries. The Center receives a significant number of patients, both through the hospital and the outpatient clinics, with over 8,320 outpatients treated and 287 surgeries done last year.

Al-Ansar Hospital features a 100-bed capacity, serving citizens, visitors and Umrah performers, due to its strategic location near to the Prophet's Mosque. Last year, its emergency served 410,913 outpatients, while receiving 4,576  inpatient cases. Also, its outpatient clinics served 55.537 cases. 1,845 surgeries were performed.

It is noted that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program is in line with the National Transformation Plan 2020 towards achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The program covers 70 hospitals and features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, which have positively reduced the waiting times.
