Prince Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Hospital- Sakaka: Successful Kneecap Replacement

A medical team at Prince Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Hospital- Sakaka has successfully replaced kneecap of a patient in her 50s with a cement joint, ending several years of her suffering from chronic knees pain. She delayed doing complete replacement of the right knee joint.

After due medical and radiological checkups, the team decided to operate on her to replace the right kneecap with a cement one, with the help of the hospital's specialist team. Thank Allah the patient was able to walk, and was discharged from the hospital in a stable condition. The hospital is the leading hospital in the region in surgical operations. During last month, 171 operations were conducted including 106 one day surgeries.

 
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which covers 70 main hospitals and aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, including emergency, clinics, surgeries, hospitalization, ICU, radiology and labs. The program also aims to develop the skills of health professionals to use the indicators and to identify performance improvement potentials, in compliance with patient safety and quality standards.
