54,750 Items Transported by Pneumatic Tube System at Hafr Al-Batin Central Hospital

The Pneumatic Tube System of Hafr Al-Batin Hospital transported 54,750 items to and from hospital departments during 1438H. The system transports lab specimens, tools and drugs to and from all hospital inpatient wards. It has 24 stations connected to high a quality tube network, 900 meters long, sending more than 100 consignments a day; saving 8 hours of continuous work. Accordingly, this ensures preservation and speedy transport of items to save time and effort. 
 
The Pneumatic Tube System is an easy-to-use system. It operates via an automatic and intelligent control system to fix software problems. Hafr Al-Batin Central Hospital is a reference hospital with a capacity of 200 beds, providing all medical specialties. Recently, patient turnover rate has recorded 70% of the hospital's capacity.
 
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which covers 70 main hospitals and aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, including emergency, clinics, surgeries, hospitalization, ICU, radiology and labs. The program also aims to develop the skills of health professionals to use the indicators and to identify performance improvement potentials, in compliance with patient safety and quality standards.
