Asir: 4 Bone Conduction Hearing Implants (BAHA)

The Specialized medical teams of Khamis Meshayt General Hospital and Ohud Rufaydah Hospital, in collaboration with Asir Central Hospital have successfully done Bone Conduction Hearing Implants (BAHA).
 
Khamis Meshayt General Hospital received a 10-year old child with hearing impairment. After due checkup by the specialist, it was decided to have BAHA under general anesthesia. This is first-of-its-kind rare surgery in the region, done by highly qualified medical team. Thank Allah the patient is in good health and restored his hearing.
 
On the other hand, in coordination with Asir Central Hospital, the specialists of Ohud Rufaydah General Hospital have done BAHA to three patients with poor sound conduction (40-year-old gentleman, 48-year-old lady, and a 24-year-old young lady). After due tests, they were diagnosed with poor sound conduction, requiring BAHA. Thank Allah all surgeries have been successful. BAHA is the latest replacement of traditional hearing aid outside one's ear. BAHA operations require highly specialized or central hospitals.
 
It is noted that MOH's Performance Program, which covers 70 main hospitals. The program features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of 7 key therapeutic aspects, including: (emergency, clinics, surgeries, hospitalization, ICU, radiology and labs.) The program also develops professional skills to use the indicators and to identify performance improvement potentials, in compliance with patient safety and quality standards.
