More than 7.500 Beneficiaries of Services of Tobacco Control Program at Jeddah Health Affairs Directorate

The Anti-Smoking Clinics affiliated to Jeddah Health Affairs General Directorate has provided its services to a number of 7,513 patients during the first half of the current year. Statistics showed remarkable increase in the number of number clinics and beneficiaries of their services at Jeddah Health Affairs General Directorate for this year, as the number of fixed clinics amounted to 25 clinics and beneficiaries amounted to 1,456 patients, while the number of mobile clinics amounted to 8 clinics and beneficiaries amounted to more than 6,056 patients during the same period.
 
The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by Jeddah Health Affairs General Directorate, pointed out that Tobacco Control Program has introduced many programs, including regular programs (i.e. education awareness programs), psychotherapy and medical consultations, as well as therapy sessions. It also underlined that treatment has both phases of behavioral and pharmacological treatments. Besides, a number of 227 physicians, working at Jeddah Health Affairs General Directorate, have been trained to contribute to community awareness, as well as establishing additional anti-smoking clinics.
 
It is worth mentioning that Jeddah Health Affairs General Directorate, coinciding with events of the World No Tobacco Day, held two anti-smoking clinics last week at the headquarters of the Directorate and the Public Health Department, benefiting a number of 299 employees of the Directorate staff. This program and other programs aim at protecting and educating the community against the dangers of smoking, in such a manner that contributes to raising the community awareness about this scourge.
