The Ministry of Health (MOH) stated that asthma has many symptoms that occur frequently, including chest tightness, wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath.
The MOH pointed out, via an awareness infographic published on its Twitter account, that asthma is a chronic allergic inflammation of the airways that causes shortness of breath. “During an asthma attack, there is tightening of muscles around your airways (bronchospasm) and the lining of the airways also becomes swollen or inflamed and thicker mucus, more than normal, is produced,” indicated the MOH. Besides, it called upon asthma patients to avoid irritants, as much as possible, pay attention to properly use asthma medication and follow the integrated treatment, as prescribed by the physician.
It is worth mentioning that these awareness-raising activities come in continuation to the MOH’s efforts to maintain the health and safety of all society members and promote health awareness among them.
