Organs of Brain-Dead Woman Save Lives of 2 Patients with Respiratory and Liver Failure

Thanks to Allah, organ transplant surgeries have successfully been conducted to two patients. The organs have been harvested from a brain-dead woman at the ICU of Hira General Hospital in Makkah, after her death was confirmed in accordance with the national protocol for the diagnosis of brain death. The organ donation process has been carried out at Hira General Hospital in Makkah, after explaining the situation to her family members and getting written consent from them with organ donation.
 
The first transplant surgery was liver transplant (or hepatic transplant), conducted to a 56-year-old Saudi patient at King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard in Riyadh. While the second one was two lungs transplant, conducted to a 37-year-old Saudi woman at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh.
