An integrated surgical team at King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC) in Makkah has succeeded in excising a 15-kg benign fibroma form the thigh of an obese patient, weighing about 250 kg.
Due to his morbid obesity that hinders his movement, the patient was taken in an ambulance from his home to KAMC where he was hospitalized under the supervision of the hospital's obesity surgical team. They made the required examinations and rehabilitation sessions and placed him on special diet plan.
In a 2-hour surgery the tumor was excised completely. After his recovery, he finished the diet and exercise plan in preparation for a gastric sleeve procedure next week.
